Ever Buy a Car? You'll Get It
Hitchcoc2 June 2023
Puddy is working in a car dealership. Jerry needs a car and figures to get a good deal because he knows Puddy. He brings George with him who has great hostility toward car salesmen--saying they are crooks. But Elaine breaks up with him (for the twelfth time) and he becomes a car shopper's worst nightmare. While this is going on, George tries to buy a candy bar in a machine and the bar gets stuck. He gets more change and when he comes back, the candy bar is gone and he is convinced a mechanic "stole" it. He carries on, trying to get the mechanic fired. Of course, he sounds like an idiot. Kramer comes in and looks at the car Jerry may buy and gets a salesman to go with him on a test drive, leading to a possible Thelma and Louise moment, There are several choice moments. The Kramer one goes on too long.

Another ninth season absurdist gem
VCalzone15 October 2009
Warning: Spoilers
Like all the episodes from the final season of Seinfeld, "The Dealership" features several very thin premises, semi-believable characters, and absolutely hilarious moments. The primary plot about Jerry buying a car and Elaine's relationship with Puddy are fairly bland, relying mostly on fairly typical jokes about car dealers and the Elaine/Puddy dynamic.

But the other two plots are dazzling. George becomes obsessed with proving that a mechanic stole his candy bar and his increasingly frantic encounters with the disinterested staff, culminating in the "candy lineup" is not necessarily believable, but is quite funny. They've made vending machines more efficient, but it's still very much a tale most of us can relate to.

Kramer's story is by far the best, thanks in large part to the brilliant dialog. This exchange might be one of my favorites of the entire series. RICK: Oh, Mr. Kramer, I gotta thank you. I - I learned a lot. Things are gonna be different for me now. KRAMER: Well, that's a weird thing to say.

10/10.

Thelma & Louise.

Warning: Spoilers
The Plot: Jerry wants to buy a car from Puddy. He's not a mechanic anymore. Now he is a car salesman. Jerry is supposed to be getting a deal. But when Elaine and Puddy break up yet again because of a high five he keeps doing, Jerry has to get them back together. Geroge is accusing a worker at the dealership of stealing a Twix bar. Kramer and an employee take a test drive in one of the cars, and drive until the gas runs out.

This is yet another episode with Puddy. Puddy is such a funny character though he is an idiot. I think that this is yet another great episode of Seinfeld. I think that what Kramer and George do is stupid but funny. George goes out of his way to prove that he stole the Twix. Kramer drives for hours and hours. Both very dumb ideas. But e have fun watching.

Elaine is annoying Puddy can do better
ThunderKing68 March 2023
A whole entire episode at the dealership... What can possibly go wrong? High-5.

March 8th 2023 aka international feminist day. This very review was created.

About: Jerry is getting ripped by a Grease Monkey

George feuds with Ned or Kip who steals his chocolate bar. Plus George goes 1 v all vs the greedy naughty dealership

Kramer takes a joyride

Elaine is a Bword.

Story and production: Story was busy and active with many things going on. Yet again Georges story carries the episode.

Jerry's storyline with puddy was okay. I didn't care much for Elaine's story because she was Bword.

Highlight: George's story.

Mental Hospital qoute.

Laugh Meter: 7

What can be learned?: Bring a lunch

Goof: How did George buy all those chocolates? Why didn't he just do that in the first place?

Should you watch this?: Yes. It's a fancy episode.

Not One of My Favorites

Warning: Spoilers
In "The Dealership" Jerry heads to a car dealership to buy a car from a recently promoted Puddy. George and Kramer tag along. Kramer and a salesman go on a test drive and are soon seeing how long they can drive around with the fuel indicator on empty. George gets into a battle with a mechanic over the vending machine. Jerry was promised an insider's deal but feels he's getting ripped off after Puddy and Elaine break up again.

The car dealership feels like a good comedic space to have an episode in, it's got stuff everyone can relate to and I feel like there are a lot of comedic elements you could bring into this. Unfortunately, this episode doesn't come through with all this well. Some of the bits are good but Kramer's subplot is pretty lackluster and Elaine is only tangentially in this episode. I always love Puddy's presence but not even he can save this one from mediocrity.

Worst episode (except for "The Finale" of course) in Seinfeld's best season
kickacan15 June 2015
Warning: Spoilers
The 9th and final season of Seinfeld is probably the best, but besides the terrible "Finale" and the "Chronicle" (clip show, doesn't really count) this is the worst episode of the season.

Another reviewer was incorrect in his score of ten stars, but was correct about the funny Kramer subplot and the dialogue exchange with the salesman. The other subplots seemed desperate and fell flat.

Something must have gone wrong that week. The gags were bad, the delivery was bad, and the supporting characters were bad. Except for Kramer, the main characters were way off their game, especially George, acting manic like someone going through a breakdown rather than a comedian being funny and entertaining.

Every Series Has A Stinker

OK. Nine brilliant seasons of Seinfeld. I just love the series. But "The Dealership" was the one stinker out of the batch. I hadn't seen it in years. When I re-watched it recently my immediate reaction was OMG. Absurdist? I guess. But what it really had was 22 minutes of George yelling, non-stop. I get it that he was "starving" because he hadn't had lunch. And Seinfeld always had a line that they walked between "This is hilarious." and "This is stupid." In 99% of the episodes they stayed on the correct side of that line. This one? Definitely not. Oh well, into every series a little rain must fall. This was Seinfeld's "shower."

Deal or no deal
safenoe12 April 2024
Warning: Spoilers
I first started watching Seinfeld when it debuted in the 1990s, which was ages ago, and I must admit I can't exactly recall watching The Dealership, like maybe the VHS ran out of tape or I forgot to timer record it or what. Anyway, reflecting on the ninth season in general, I think The Dealership, whilst set primarily in a car dealership of course, was kind of everything everywhere all at once, with the Thelma and Louise parody, and the long drawn out Twix and 5th Avenue saga initiated by George which went beyond its welcome date. Anyway, I guess the final seasons of every series has such episodes init.
