There are many references in this episode to the children's novel "The Wizard of Oz" by L. Frank Baum: the network which Paul organized was called "Oz"; the code-names of its members were Wizard (Paul), Scarecrow (Lee), Dorothy and Tinman; Amanda reads the novel; when the fake Dorothy regains consciousness, Amanda asks Lee jokingly "How do you tell her she's not in Kansas anymore?".
The episode won an Emmy Award for Outstanding Music Composition for a Series (Dramatic Underscore).
The dress worn by the woman in the opening scene appears to be the same one worn by Jacqueline Smith in the first season promotional shots for the original Charlie's Angels, which starred Kate Jackson.
