- AnecdotesJames Caan was scheduled to host this episode, but he dropped out because his older sister Barbara was in the hospital being treated for bone marrow cancer. As a result, no new host was announced as his replacement.
- GaffesMusical guest Rod Stewart invited Tina Turner to join the performance of one of his biggest hits, Hot Legs. During the song Stewart lost track of where he was and began singing the verse "imagine how my daddy felt" in the wrong place, during the bass guitar solo. An embarrassed Stewart disappeared offstage and reappeared after the ensuing solos to sing the now-displaced verse in its correct location in the song.
