The second episode of the nineteenth seasons opens with Adam Sandler's Opera Man. Opera Man was okay when he appeared on Weekend Update, but in my opinion, this was a little annoying.

Shannen Doherty's monologue was brilliant as she had a reputation in the 90s as being difficult. It was fun to see that she and then husband Ashley Hamilton didn't mind making fun of her reputation by doing a fake wedding video where Doherty has many confrontations with people. I absolutely loved this monologue and it is clearly one of the best of the series.

Following the host's monologue is one of the best commercial parodies. The commercial is for Crystal Gravy, obviously a dig at Crystal Pepsi. The song used is a song very similar to Van Halen's Right Now.

The second sketch of the night is The Real World and it's one of my favorites. If the real show was as entertaining as this sketch, I would've watched it. The sketch features David Spade as Bill from Oklahoma, the utterly brilliant Mike Myers as Brian from Ireland, Tim Meadows as an Englishman named Jeremy, Ellen Cleghorne as Tammy from Detroit, Adam Sandler as Anthony from Brooklyn, Shannen Doherty as Suzanne, Rob Schneider as Tookeet the Eskimo and Melanie Hutsell as Becky. They set it up at the beginning where Spade says he hates the Irish, the Irishman hates the English and black people, The black guy from England hates regular black girls from America, the black girl from America hates Italians, the Italian hates poor while trash, the poor white trash girl hates Eskimo's and the Eskimo hates lesbians. Becky is a lesbian. The Real World sketch has always stuck out in my mind as the one of the funniest in SNL history.

After the Real World we have the Denise Show. In this sketch Adam Sandler plays a man who is obsessed and heartbroken by his ex girlfriend Denise (Doherty). This is set up like a public access show and is a good sketch.

Cypress Hill performs "Insane in the Membrane".

Weekend Update with Kevin Nealon is just okay as usual. There is a joke about tv violence that is interesting to see now as Nealon jokes about a five day waiting period on anvils and other acme products. It's funny now about the talk of getting rid of Elmer Fudd's rifle. It's also interesting that there is mention of Ruth Bader Ginsberg being sworn in to the Supreme Court. Ginsberg just recently died in 2020. Rob Schneider appears with wacky sports bloopers. The highlight of this Weekend Update is Tim Meadows as Ike Turner.

The next sketch is a game show parody called "Is It Date Rape" which features Phil Hartman as host and Doherty and Chris Farley as contestants along with Melanie Hutsell, Mike Myers, Tim Meadows and Ellen Cleghorne appearing as the "date rape players". This sketch manages to be absurd but still funny.

The next sketch is another one that plays off of Doherty's reputation. It's like the Salem Witch trials but Doherty's accused of "bitchcraft". Adam Sandler is especially good in this one. It's a decent sketch and once again it's nice to see Doherty being a good sport about her bad girl persona.

The next sketch has Phil Hartman as Disney's CEO Michael Eisner. This part of the episode is just filler in my opinion. It's ok and Hartman is always great, but I didn't see the purpose of this sketch.

The next sketch is kind of sad to watch now knowing the struggles Chris Farley went through that ultimately led to his death in 1998. Here Farley plays an alcoholic who keeps going off the wagon. The sketch also features Phil Hartman, Julia Sweeney, Tim Meadows, Kevin Nealon, Mike Myers and host Shannen Doherty.

Cypress Hill causes controversy during their second song when they bring marijuana to the stage while permforming "Ain't Goin Out Like That".

There's a sketch afterwards with Doherty, Myers and Meadows where they play stylists helping Doherty get ready to introduce the band. Once again her reputation is brought up.

This was a great episode from a terrific season. It's always great to see Shannen and she handled hosting duties really well and most of the sketches were perfect.
