In her 2012 autobiography "The Varnished Untruth", Pamela Stephenson recounts that she had to refer to her nipples as "the customary bumpy things on the end" while Billy Crystal was allowed to say "my nipples are hard" during his opening monologue in Thompson Twins (1984). She also wonders if Britney Spears made use of the 'moving tit contraption' that Pamela left behind 16 years later during Britney's monologue in Britney Spears (2000).
The sketch where Jim Belushi portrays the high school chess coach is a parody of short-tempered basketball coaches who were caught on camera becoming enraged at what they felt were bad calls by referees. One of the most famous was Bobby Knight who, a few months after this sketch aired, at a February 23, 1985 game between Indiana University (his team), and Purdue University, famously threw a chair across the court. Knight was ejected from the game and given a single game suspension. He apologized the day after the incident.
