Television turning on the heat

Warning: Spoilers
"The TV Addict" opens with Fred and Grady watching Bela Lugosi in THE RETURN OF THE VAMPIRE (an actual 1944 release) when a disapproving Lamont lectures his father about too much TV and not enough exercise. The argument between father and son results in a busted set, and Fred refusing to start a regimen of exercise to occupy his time. Officer Hoppy shares his knowledge of alcoholics, able to admit they can quit any time they want but never actually doing so, and using Fred as an example in regard to television. Lamont brings in a hypnotist from El Segundo (Graham Jarvis) to put his father under control, to feel heat every time he thinks of TV. Lamont finally repairs Fred's set with one minor condition, keeping company with Aunt Esther's unsmiling portrait!
