The last scene showed Fred finding out he was going to be getting less than the maximum amount Social Security paid out at the time, which he said was $218/month. Later on in the series, it is found that Fred pulls in about $3000 a year from Social Security, which averages out to about $250/month, which even with inflation and cost-of-living increases over time, would still be close to, if not the maximum you could get from SS.
Fred seems to abhor Chinese food in this episode, but in later, not too far off, episodes, like "By the Numbers" and "Whiplash", he seems to not mind it.
