Lamont goes fishing, Fred catches something
kevinolzak6 December 2016
"Fred Sanford Has a Baby" opens with Lamont and Rollo leaving on a fishing trip while Fred seeks to win a bet that he won't earn a cent while he's gone: "when you want yourself some extra money, rent out the room that belong to your sonny!" A trucker calls to reserve it for one night: "keep on truckin'!" Imagine his surprise when the boarder turns out to be a young and pregnant Louella Evans (Bonnie Banfield), Fred reluctant to accept despite Donna's reassurance: "you know I hate surprise packages and it look like she's become unwrapped!" Louella spends her time cooking and cleaning until it's time for the baby to 'break out!' Fritzi Burr (fourth of ten) is the attending nurse, inquiring about his relationship to the patient: "I didn't touch that woman!" "I have to ask some questions when a woman comes to us out of wedlock" "I don't care if that woman came out of El Segundo, don't look at me!" The exchange is capped with one final insult: "didn't I see you on TV in MEDICAL STORY, didn't you play a bedpan?" The guys in the waiting room chuckle over the 'sly old buzzard' who isn't married to the young lady: "it's not my wife, it's just a girl who's living with me!" Expectant father Mel Bryant previously played Uncle 'Jake the Jackass' in "The Engagement."
