Liz and Max journey to an American Indian reservation where they glean information from an elderly tribesman about the alien who vanished in 1959.

Michael and Maria share their first kiss in this episode. They begin realizing that they like each other even though they don't want to admit. I always expected that Max and Liz will share the first alien kiss. You can also see that Isabel wishes she had a romantic interest. Michael and Maria are more like the rebel couple, unlike Liz and Max, they prefer to be romantic.

This episode is more about the desire of knowing where the three not-of-this-world teenagers are from.

Seeing other cultures

Warning: Spoilers
Seeing other cultures.

I think we never saw any black people in the series but in this episode, we could see native americans. Wise people and brave. They told the truth and warned liz friendly way. Liz got scared but she trusts max, also he saved her life.

That long haired sheriff deputy sent isabel to that clue when he said he saw her necklace. Was it coincedance?

I hope fbi agent and sheriff dont work together. I always thought sheriff would fight against her, to protect the town. To protect the kids. An agent in the school. That is not good. Lets see.

The plot thickens...

Warning: Spoilers
South 285 and River Dog is the first two parter in Roswell. I prefer the first half, for the humor and overall intriguing main plot. But River Dog, is where we know more about the topics touched up, in previous episodes. There's a definite similarity between this and Smallville. Same jealous and suspicious ex boyfriend, alien sub-plot, revolving around native Americans folklore. And tragic hero(es). Only Roswell was there first, and you can't help but be reminded of The X-Files more. And on this particular episode, it is striking. That little nod at Blair Witch Project was nice, but very unnecessary and outdated today. The way writers built up the Michael/Maria relationship, gave this two hours episode, laugh out loud comic reliefs, as well. This, even if the Maria character still gets on my nerves...
