One of the best episodes

Roseanne's first two years on network television were unquestionably her best. 95% of what she produced during the entire two years gets an excellent rating. Her hilarious take on life and rapier wit in these episodes is incomparable. This episode from early in season 2 is no exception - it is simply superb. Before critics, network nitwits and people like Tom Arnold got to her, Roseanne was the great stand-up comedian we all loved to see. Everyone in the cast was obviously having fun, and Sarah Gilbert became an overnight sensation through her talented performances in episodes like this one. Film actor John Goodman was the icing on the cake needed to attract a solid start-up audience, and the show just lit its own fire and took off. Television like this is sorely missed these days.

Warning: Spoilers
What a great episode! Darlene needs to write a poem as an assignment which she is not too crazy about. And when she does hers gets selected from the class to be read in front of an audience. Darlene doesn't want to but Roseanne convinces her.

Well this episode has so many funny moments. Dan referring to Darlene as "the son he never had" in front of DJ. That poem that Crystal's kid wrote. I was laughing so hard from it.

And Darlene reading her poem was an amazing scene. I was curios what this poem will be like. And first it seems like a joke. But then it goes on and shows so much depth of Darlene's character. She is already a great one, but this moment makes on look at her in a different way with even more interest.
