When Rockford "persuades" Christine Dusseau (Stephanie Powers) to accompany him in his car about halfway through the episode, she reaches to unlock her door to try to get away, only to have Rockford show her that he's removed the lock button. In subsequent shots as they drive, however, the button is visible on her side of the car even though she has had no opportunity to replace it during their drive, nor does Rockford give her the button back.
When Tina is practicing the handwriting of the deceased Sandstrom, the signature is written in one manner. However, when Tina goes to the bank and signs, the signature is written in a completely different manner.
When Rockford goes to a motel and leaves a wake up call at the motel office, the cops following him decide to come back later. This allows Rockford to follow them when they leave. The cops then make a right turn and pull over. Before making that right turn, Rockford pulls over, gets out, and runs forward to peer around a masonry wall (at the cops who he was following). Rockford could not have know they had pulled over and that he needed to pull over himself before he reached that corner, unless he read that was where he had to pull over after having read so in the script. That way, the camera could film the pulled over cops and Rockford peering around that wall in the same camera shot.
Rockford is handed a newspaper cutting with the headline about the suicide but apart from the initial two lines, the remaining text is all about some random planning commission issue and the exact same report is duplicated in the right hand column.
When Rockford takes the case, he is followed. He pulls over to go to a pay phone. The car following him pulls over to a spot just around a curve where they can see him make a phone call. But when Rockford pulls over he walks back about 15 to 20 yards. This would have put him just out of view of the car following him. Further, the car following would have had to know he was going to pull over and make a phone call, and pulled off onto the shoulder even further back, in order to view him phone, let alone pull over. In other words, when Rockford pulls over, the car following him could not have known where to pull over (so that they, the hidden curve, and Jim could appear in the same camera shot), unless they read that that was were they were supposed to pull over according to the script.
Jim gets Christine in his car and asks her to explain everything. As she begins to speak they appear to pass a staging area for the production: two tractor trailers are parked/open, crew members appear to be grouped together, and two cars identical to Jim's are parked.
In the car, Rockford says he has called Lt. Diel down at the police station, and Christine says, "Lt. Thomas Diel?"
The actor's real name is Tom Atkins. His character's name is Lt. *Alex* Diel. So, she erroneously/accidentally used his real first name.
When Rockford and Christine pull into a Gulf gas station, Rockford drives through the service area to buy gas at a self serve pump. The two are talking when an attendant comes up to the car and Rockford asks him to pump three dollars in.
When the police officers go to Dusseau's home looking for Rockford they just take her word that he wasn't there. Jim's car should have been there and police would know to also look for that to find him. It's only later that Rockford talks about getting a rental car to make it harder to find him.
