James Garner and Dennis Dugan in The Rockford Files (1974)

Goofs

The House on Willis Avenue

The Rockford Files

Edit

Continuity

When the microphone in Joe Tooley's office is activated by Rockford's entry, it is labeled 35679KLM. When the agent reports it, he says "35679KLW."
When Rockford's car is shot with the shotgun on the highway, it has a clear hole in the passenger's door. A minute later after Richie and Rockford drive up and over the big hill next to the highway, the Firebird speeds the wrong way down the entrance ramp and you can clearly see there is no hole in the passenger's door (although it returns later outside Rockford's trailer). Also, as the yellow sedan chasing them drives off the road and begins to go up the grass hill in pursuit, the camera switches to a view of the occupants - the same view of them driving on the highway earlier with the guard rail in the background instead of the grass while they're supposedly driving up the hill.
When Jim and Richie are hiding in the motel room after Jim is shot in the leg, he is sitting on the bed holding a towel on his leg. The towel has blood on it, but his pants don't have any blood on then and there is no bullet hole in his pants. Also, after leaving the motel, Jim walks with no sign of injury through the remainder of the episode.
MacGreggor's operative Baker reported to him that Rockford's trailer had been moved by a semi, but for some reason Rocky's pickup is hooked up to it at their hideout. (Possibly the semi left the trailer on the side of a main road, then Rocky managed to pull it into a more hidden area off-road with his pick-up).
At the end when Rockford's TV was outside, cable an power cords were seen when facing the back, but facing the front of the set no cords or cables could be seen connected.

Factual errors

The 'industrial air conditioning unit' that is shown INSIDE of the house is actually always located outside of a building, usually on the roof of the building. The reason for this is because this unit shown is the condenser side of the a/c system, the side of the a/c system that blows out the hot-air! This equipment shown would only HEAT the inside of the house in the spot it is placed.
Garth McGregor is told Jim Rockford's home is a trailer, and had been unexpectedly moved. The trailer is shown in a different location, connected to Rocky's truck. Jim and Rocky are there.

A mobile home can't be moved on short notice. Moving a mobile home requires obtaining a permit. To obtain a permit, a qualified mobile home mover must be hired. When the move actually takes place, the mobile home must be preceded and followed by vehicles with "Oversize Load" or "Wide Load" warnings.

If law enforcement had seen Rocky's truck pulling a mobile home, they would have put a stop to it. (Note: Rockford is known to bend the rules).

Revealing mistakes

Jim convinces Richie to keep the police radio on in his car and at the very end of the scene the hand of a person in the back seat becomes visible even though there are only two people in the car.

Crew or equipment visible

While Rocky reminisces about how he used to attend funerals at least once per week as he sits at Jim's desk, not only do you not see the wall behind the desk, you can see a bit of the studio at the lower right.

Character error

When the two guards chase Jim and Richie through the underground computer center, they each fire a shot before Jim and Richie run between some gates and roll large spools of cable against the gates. But instead of continuing to fire over the spools (which are about chest high) at Jim and Richie, the guards stop and try to move the spools.
