At the start of the car chase with the Porsche, Rockford's driving an older model Firebird with single headlights.
When Jim and Eric are being chased by the helicopter, the external shots show them at an abandoned Naval airfield on Terminal Island at Long Beach Harbor, and the internal car shots have them driving past the facility at an abandon military base location unknown.
During the helicopter chase, there are two thuds (apparently the helicopter's skids hitting the car's roof) and Rockford says "He's right above us." But the next shot from above shows no damage to the car's roof. There should at least have been some dents and missing paint.
During the helicopter chase, Genther looks out the back window of the car and says "He's right behind us." But the next shot shows the helicopter in front of the car.
When Rockford leaves his trailer in a 1974 2-headlight Firebird and is then driving and arriving in a 1979 4-headlight Firebird. Obvious blooper.
License plates on the Firebird colors are mismatched .
Black background yellow characters is an older CA DMV plate.the blue background yellow characters is more current to the 1970's.
During the Porsche chase, as Jim overtakes the van, the backseat cameraman's equipment is briefly in scene.
Crew reflected in the brown convertible's driver-side door just before the 8 minute mark (7:52).
Jim and Eric head to the Van Nuys Airport to confront Brian Tegg and meet Dennis. Van Nuys Airport is landlocked about 15 miles from any beachfront, however, the helicopter chase at the airport clearly shows they are next to the ocean.
(The location is actually the abandoned Long Beach Navel and the skyline is the Long Beach Skyline.)
In the beginning when the gunman tries to kill Valerie, the gunman shoots her dog first with an automatic pistol, then cocks the hammer for the second shot at Valerie. The hammer would have already been cocked after firing the first shot, because the slide cocks the hammer when it cycles back after each shot. All automatic pistols with an external hammer work in this fashion, you only cock the hammer for the first shot, the slide cocks the hammer for each additional shot.
