- Outlaws take Mark hostage in order to force Lucas to help them rob the bank in North Fork.
- A gang of bank robbers gets the drop on Lucas at his ranch, and the ringleader tells him that they're going to use him to help rob the North Fork bank and keep Mark at the ranch as a hostage, and will kill him if something goes wrong. The robbery goes off as planned, but Mark is accidentally hurt in a fall back at the ranch. When Lucas discovers this, he becomes enraged and sets out after the gang, determined to make them pay for injuring his son.—frankfob2@yahoo.com
- Bank robbers take Mark hostage at the ranch and, leaving him in the charge of the gang leader's intellectually-challenged brother, successfully force Lucas into assisting them. Mark plays along with his dim keeper until he can attempt an escape, during which Mark trips over a stump and sustains a serious head injury. Meanwhile, after Lucas returns to the ranch and finds Mark unconscious, he outruns the posse, catches up with the gang, pins them down and, out of range of their pistols, forces them to begin walking the fifty miles back to North Fork without water. The gang members, becoming increasingly desperate, and fall into mortal infighting while Lucas continues to look on implacably.—Jasha
- Benjamin Stark, his brother Noley and a third man taken Lucas and Mark McCain hostage at the McCain ranch. Their plan is simple: Lucas will take them into town and introduce them to the bank manager. The bank will be robbed and they will be on their way. To make sure Lucas cooperates, Noley will keep Mark hostage until they are all free and clear. Mark tries to escape however and knocks himself unconscious in a fall. An outraged Lucas sets out after the bank robbers bent on revenge.—garykmcd
