During the episode, there is a recurring song sung about the villainous character named Jake Pardee. One verse starts "One day in Peckinpah's saloon..." An obvious reference to Sam Peckinpah who created the series and who directed six episodes.
The guy who sings Jake Pardee is Thurl Ravenscroft. Who is best known for The song You're a Mean One Mr. Grinch.
Actually, program credits give Bill Lee credit for singing the Jake Pardee song. Bill Lee and Thurl Ravenscroft were both members of The Mellomen singing quartet. Bill Lee also dubbed Christopher Plummer's singing voice in The Sound of Music, including the song Edelweiss, Rodgers and Hammerstein's final musical collaboration.
Thurl Ravenscroft, who sang the "Jake Pardee" song, was also the voice of Tony the Tiger in commercials for Kellogg's Frosted Flakes from 1953 until his death in 2005.
