End of a Young Gun (1958)

Goofs

End of a Young Gun

The Rifleman

Edit

Continuity

When Mark is being rescued from hanging on the cliff, he does not have a hat on. When they start pulling him up the hill, all of the sudden his hat is on his head.
Will is on the ledge with a broken leg when his brother throws a rope down to him. The rope lands at Will's shin but in the next shot, it's at his stomach where he can suddenly reach it.
The crutch Will picks up in the barn looks like a modern crutch except it has leather wrapped over cloth for the arm support at the top. The crutch he uses later after dinner is a crude single pole affair with a round unpadded piece of wood for the arm support. They look nothing alike.

Factual errors

The outlaw refers to Lucas as a sod buster, but a sod buster was a farmer and Lucas was a rancher who raises cattle.

Anachronisms

A shot of Lucas McCain from the back reveals the distinctive "W" stitched onto the right rear pocket of his jeans, meaning that they're the Wrangler brand. The show is set in the 1880s. The Wrangler company didn't come into existence until the 1940s.

Character error

While Lucas and Will discuss how hard a farmer's life is, Lucas greases a wagon axle. He replaces the wheel and threads the nut on the axle as the conversion winds down, but when the conversation ends he turns the nut in the opposite direction, which would remove the nut again. . Counter clockwise tightens, clockwise removes nut.
