Reno Raines learns that a veteran of the police force (Ed Lauter), who was also his mentor and trainer in his younger years, has been killed in a car explosion. Reno promises to the man's devastated wife that he will find those responsible. He learns that, right before his death, the man was working on the case of a notorious Mexican drug dealer, so he and his friend Bobby travel to Mexico by bike to find his camp. And now I'm going to SPOIL the major twist of the story, so be warned: it turns out Reno's mentor had been dirty for a long time, so he decided to stage his own death, flee to Mexico and join the drug dealer he was supposedly working against! You may or may not figure out this twist before it happens, but either way it's pretty much the only reason to see this episode. The final shoot-out is underwhelming. (**)
