My introduction to the series....YUCK!!!
planktonrules14 February 2019
I have never seen an episode of "Renegade" until this one. My friend Angelo suggested I see it and thought I'd enjoy it. I didn't. Why didn't I like it? The writing. In this episode you have a woman who is LESS believable than the Easter Bunny....and she's simply horribly written...and the villains aren't all that much better.

The episode begins at a swank party. A mob enforcer comes to collect on a bad debt...and the debtor pulled out a gun and they had a shootout...and the enforcer kills the guy. A super-annoying woman sees all this and before the killer can kill her, she is rescued by Reno. So far, so good. But her reaction is insane...instead of thanking him for saving her, she complains and complains and complains and never takes any of this seriously...even though the killer DID shoot at them as they escaped.

After identifying the killer for the police, her troubles were not over--and Reno tells her that. After all, the killer comes from a family of assassins...inept ones by the way. She insists on not changing her daily routine...and the killer's brother tries to shoot her and she's saved once again by Reno. How does she react to this? She insists that she's going to go shopping!! Reno agrees to take her and there's another assassination attempt!! Reno now insists they hide out somewhere...she insists everything is just fine. This woman is either certifiably insane OR the dumbest woman on television!!

By this point, I'd pretty much given up on the episode. She was annoying to the point of making me angry for even watching the show! But it was worse. After all, these professional killers are inept and in several scenes Reno gets their guns but never shoots them or hands them over to the police....he just runs away with the girl! Does any of this make sense? Nope...and you'd think sooner or later one of the baddies' bullets would connect but never seems to!! And then there's Leslie...the guy who acts like a jerk and in one scene you see a strategically located punch bowl...I wonder what'll happen with that?!

I'll try another episode...but considering the overall score for this one is higher than most in the series, I am not especially excited at the prospect!

Meet the John Vernon gang
Lordfogg2 January 2011
Warning: Spoilers
This episode may very well be my favorite for the simple reason I had it on tape and watched it a hundred times. Not to mention I was 12 or 13 and thought that Jessica Collins was the hottest woman ever. This episode also contained one of my all time favorite actors John Vernon. Although his role is minimal it is important to the episode. Mr Vernon does a great job playing a very ruthless father with some equally bad kids. The best line is when Arlene Dahl tells him he should be proud of his kids because they are criminals and Vernon laughs and says yeah they're good boys. I own this series on DVD and love it but the majority of the episodes are forgettable. There are some stand outs most of which feature a guest star. This was one of those episodes for me. Oh and any that star series creator Stephen J. Cannell playing dirty cop Donald "Dutch" Dixon.
