- Jim Quince: Wishbone?
- Wishbone: Now what's the matter with that popcorn? Don't it just melt in your mouth?
- Jim Quince: Four legged ghost.
- Wishbone: Looks like a stray lamb to me.
- [All the men approach the little white critter and try to befriend the little pup only to be usurped by Mushy who entices the dog away with a plate of food. All the grown men follow like sheep]
- Rowdy Yates: What it is?
- Mushy: Mr Wishbone thinks it's a lamb.
- Wishbone: Well, it's got a fleece, ain't it?
- Pete Nolan: Ain't a lamb. It's a dog. It's only one of them French Pood-Lees.
- Rowdy Yates: Huh?
- Pete Nolan: French Pood-Lee.
- Wishbone: You and Mushy seem to know everything.
- Pete Nolan: I knew a fancy lady once in New Orleans, had a dog just like this. Used to lead it around on a leather strap right down the street. How this one got all the way out here by herself, I don't know.
- Mushy: Excuse me, Mr Nolan, by HISSELF!
- John Taggart: Are you serious about moving there for good?
- Henry J. Porter: You don't think I came all the way out here just for a visit, do you?
- John Taggart: Not your kind of country, Henry?
- Henry J. Porter: Oh, I'll get used to it. But I'm not too old to learn.
- John Taggart: Maybe not, but I am.
- Henry J. Porter: I don't know what you mean by that, John.
- John Taggart: I mean, it's not big enough for two bosses.
- Henry J. Porter: But we're partners.
- Jeanie Porter: I love Misty Mushie. My Bobo loves him too. Mr Mushy's taking care of him right now. Mr Mushy is such a wonderful man, so gentle, brave and smart.
- Rowdy Yates: Oh, yeah, I'm sure Mr Mushy will be real glad to hear that.
- Jeanie Porter: Well, him and another killed a couple of Morgan Posse leader men, changed clothes with 'em and left 'em for buzzard bait. I got there in time to tell the difference.
- Wishbone: Well, maybe you two smart know-it-alls can tell me how the Good Lord happened to make him like this?
- Pete Nolan: Just like they growed you.
- Wishbone: Well, I'll get your supper before I learn something else I don't want to know.
