- Inez Maldenado: Justice is its own celebration, Pablo.
- Vasquez: Why? Because Don Fransicus says so? Because the day is hot? Or because the day is cold? These are no reasons. They are excuses.
- Inez Maldenado: There are three things a woman would be better off without, Senor. Doubt, freckles, and curiosity. You can start with a name.
- Rowdy Yates: Oh, oh, I'm Rowdy Yates.
- Wishbone: Well, you know this tooth pulling business can get pretty painful.
- Rowdy Yates: Yeah, I've heard that.
- Wishbone: Ah, some fellas even known to have died from it.
- Rowdy Yates: Yeah.
- Wishbone: Yeah, what I mean is, it'd be plain simple not to take something for it first. Like medicine.
- Rowdy Yates: Medicine?
- Wishbone: Painkiller.
- Rowdy Yates: [Rowdy finally catches on when he sights the Cantina] Oh yeah. Was a kinda dusty trail. I could use some of that painkiller myself.
- Jim Quince: That ain't coffee, that's watered down granite.
- Joe Scarlet: Never thought I'd see the day I miss Wishbone's cooking. Mushy ain't dishing up that food, it's walking out of that pot all by itself.
- Gil Favor: Yep! I figure next time Wishbone gets a toothache, we oughta take it out of him. With a branding iron.
- Rowdy Yates: Not according to the Land Office there in San Antone. They cleared our route as open range all the way to Denver.
- Alfredo Maldenado: We have no interest in the words of politicians.
- Hernan Maldenado: By this time tomorrow I want your herd driven back across the river.
- Rowdy Yates: Back 20 miles? Maybe you'd like us to go west too?
- Wishbone: Oh, you mention something like this to our Trail Boss, you're in for a real...
- Hernan Maldenado: There is an alternative, a slight fee, say, every 10th cow.
- Rowdy Yates: Ah, I see. That'd be around 300 cows. No, you won't get that. There better come up with more than conversation there, friend.
- Alfredo Maldenado: You doubt our word?
- Rowdy Yates: Well, let me put it this way, figures never lie. But liars always figure. You can read that any way you want.
- Rowdy Yates: She listened but I don't think she heard.
- Gil Favor: Start a woman thinking, anything can happen.
- Inez Maldenado: It's too late, Senor, only when hate takes the place of judgement.
- Gil Favor: Yeah, well, maybe. Sorrow can't resurrect the dead, certain can't fill the graves.
- Inez Maldenado: You were given a fair trial. It was more than you deserved.
- Gil Favor: FAIR TRIAL? No witnesses, no jury, biased testimony.
- Inez Maldenado: Biased, Senor? why? Because your words were mute without the sound of rifles to back them up? Or because the words that spoke against you were Mexican?
- Gil Favor: Oh, come on now. You can't dress up the truth and nationality, any more than you can bury it with a lie.
- Gil Favor: [shouting] What are you standing around for? Wishbone to serve tea? COME ON! Get this mess cleaned up! Wishbone, you get back here! You get a shovel. Let Mushy take care of the wagon. Get that body out there planted unless that toothache is bothering you too much.
- Wishbone: No. Right away.
- Rowdy Yates: Look, Boss, I know it don't look too good.
- Gil Favor: Ain't like I think! I got a herd scattered halfway to High Water, a dead body on my hands, and why? Because you start a fight over some female, Not much of it ain't your fault.
- Rowdy Yates: Look, B-Boss.
- Gil Favor: Save your explanations for the Law. And don't just stand there and bleed to death!
