Frank Marker goes to see Julia Meadows who runs a sweet shop. She is a nervous lady, she found a photo of a young woman in her husband's coat pocket. Now she is suspicious.
Eddie Meadows is a bit older than Julie. He is a travelling salesman who is away for five days a week only returning on Sunday.
Frank follows Eddie from Windsor to Northampton where bot check in to a boarding house.
To Frank's surprise, the boarding house is run by a Mrs Meadows. Eddie is married to her.
In another town Frank meets third Mrs Meadows. An older woman who runs a clothes shop.
Frank has the inevitable task of confronting Eddie about his multiple marriages. Frank also learns that he has children with the others.
Peter Sallis is so charming as Eddie. His wives regard him as rather gormless and eccentric. He makes sure that the wives are independent and they can stand on their own feet.
Frank Marker is rather aghast of a man who just drifted into three marriages. He wants to know just how he manages to spend Christmas with them all.
I was left wondering just how Eddie managed to afford multiple families.
There are brief appearances from Gareth Thomas who rents cars out to Frank and Colin Baker.
