Reed Hadley starred in the successful but short-lived series, "Racket Squad". Shortly after it was canceled, he returned with another show that looked and sounded almost like "Racket Squad" but with a few minor changes. "Public Defender" had a similar introduction and Hadley's playing the lawyer, Bart Matthews, was almost like a clone of his Captain Braddock on the previous show. Fortunately, since I really like "Racket Squad", watching most of the episodes of "Public Defender" is also very pleasant.
The episode, "Badge of Honor", begins with a funeral for Sgt. Dan Conway. However, the show does not concern how he died but how he nearly was kicked off the police force for a stupid indiscretion early on in his career. However, Bart Matthews (Hadley) took pity on the young man and helped him through this mistake. How this led to Conway saving many lives is explained in the epilogue.
This is an excellent story of redemption and hope. Plus, you really like Conway and you are pulled into the story. Well done and worth seeing.
