- The homecoming competition is in full force and legendary former homecoming queen Hellacious Akers, who bullied Ms. Glass when they went to school together, is doing everything she can to secure Nicole and Mary Cherry's victory through dirty tactics. She talks to them about this in a scene that directly spoofs Madonna's music video for her hit song Music that also plays during the scene. The wicked trio finds empty bottles of alcohol in Carmen's mom's trash and, believing that the bottles are Carmen's, they start a smear campaign against Carmen and accuse her of being an alcoholic. This pushes Ms. Glass over the edge and she takes the trio on with surprising results. Carmen tries to reconnect with her alcoholic mom. Meanwhile, Josh has failed the school's drug test, so he must witness a live autopsy of a man who died in a car accident because he was driving while drunk. Lily has guilty conscious over this and eventually decides to join Josh and share his punishment. Sam has dropped from the homecoming race and now wants to help Harrison, who seems to be abusing prescription drugs. When he admits that he's been self-medicating himself and that it's nothing, she convinces him to go to a free clinic with her for a check up. However, the doctor tells them that only Harrison's mother can see the results, so in an attempt to protect her friend's privacy, Sam breaks into the clinic to get his file and see the results, which turn out to be shockingly similar to those her late father once got.
