- At a carnival, a magician promises the audience he'll make his gorgeous assistant disappear - instead she plummets out of the mummy's coffin onto the stage, shot dead. The show's strongman hires Peter Gunn to protect her seductive roommate (Nita Talbot, the Russian spy on Hogan's Heroes), who dances in veils. Soon, Gunn needs protection from a jealous Edie.—David Stevens
- Season 1 Episode 19 Murder on the Midway Prologue: The carnival magician had hoped to make his assistant Trixie disappear, but instead she has been shot to death inside the mummy coffin, as she fell out of the coffin when he opened it. When the magician shot a blank into the air, the murderer shot Trixie.
Pete is at the carnival stopping a fleeing man named Franklin with cotton candy to the face as he is being chased by Jacoby. Pete tips the cotton candy lady to find out who the fleeing man was and is told Franklin was married to Trixie.
Another carnival employee, Baron, greets him, introducing Rowena, the dancing veiled lady, who he manages to buy a drink at Mother's. Edie displays her contempt for the whole date thing, pulling his chair out from under him.
Back at the carnival, Pete kisses Rowena, Baron sees the kiss, brought on by Rowena, he fights with Pete, he is losing the fight, when a scream stops the fight, it is Rowena, a shot grazed her head, perpetrator escaped.
Jacoby with police shows up, getting answers to his questions, some questions, all employees ordered into the dinner tent in a half an hour. Franklin was released on bail recently and the carnival owner, Dave Sweetzer, posted the bail, making him responsible for Franklin.
Trixie and Rowena used to room together. There was an argument between them, but Franklin couldn't determine what the spat was all about. Pete tells Franklin to turn himself in at the dinner tent, and Pete will look around. He is looking at Rowena's scrap book, she enters the tent, just as she was telling about her past, and that she shot Trixie, she is shot dead. Pete chases the shooter, he loses him, only to see the carnival owner aim his pistol from the mummy's coffin, Pete shoots him dead. Jacoby comes over to view as do other carnival employees look on at the dead owner. The Baron is seen holding Rowena's lifeless body.
