Summaries

  • Maureen Thomas is contacted by Burt Renshaw who believes he can put her in contact with the mother who abandoned her. An inheritance is involved and James Grove has found another Maureen. When Renshaw is murdered, Maureen Thomas is charged.
  • Burt Renshaw has been looking for his niece Maureen on behalf of New York lawyer James Grove. Maureen was left on an orphanage's doorstep by his brother just as he was shipping out with the Navy in World War II. The girl's mother, who at the time was unfit to raise a child, now wants to be reunited with her daughter. Renshaw is certain that he's found her: airline hostess Maureen Thomas. Maureen isn't interested at first, but she's engaged to a man from a well-to-do family and becomes interested in having her own family history to share. But Grove found another Maureen who was left at the same orphanage at about the same time, and Renshaw contacts Perry Mason for help. When Renshaw is found dead after claiming he has information no one else has, Maureen Thomas is charged with his murder and Perry defends her. The solution to the case may come down to a polka-dot horse doll the girl had as a child in a picture.—garykmcd
