Raymond Burr and Bobby Clark in Perry Mason (1957)

Goofs

The Case of the Pint-Sized Client

Perry Mason

Edit

Continuity

In court, when DA Hamilton Burger walks over to introduce a floor-standing safe that is a ostensibly a duplicate of the same type of safe that was robbed at the Hargrove Finance Company, you can plainly see the name 'Hargrove Finance' on the safe's doors where it was incompletely or poorly obliterated in an attempt to make it appear as if it's a plain, non-commercial safe.
Before Della goes to comfort Nicky in Perry's office, there is no wet spot on her jacket. When she is shown on the couch, before hugging Nicky, there is a spot, clearly from a previous take of Nicky crying on her shoulder.
The bandage on Hays's jaw is smaller and lower on his face during the safe-opening demonstration at the finance company office than it was the day before when he testified at the trial.

Factual errors

Lt. Tragg testifies that they found all the robbery money except $12,000, and that's why they made a second visit to the defendant's apartment, where they found the remaining $12,000. Nicky had spent $50 buying his grandfather a coat, so the police would have had a shortage of $12,050 they were looking for, unless they had already factored in the boy's spending.
When Perry and Gramp Renzi have their first conference in jail, a guard is standing in the room, within earshot of their conversation. This is a breach of attorney-client confidentiality. The guard should be outside the room.

Incorrectly regarded as goofs

During the robbery, Crowley's mask covers only his mouth, the rest of his face is easily identifiable. None of the finance company employees recognize Crowley at the trial and he is never implicated in the robbery. Not a goof: all three men wear stocking masks that cover their entire faces during the robbery.
