Raymond Burr and Sonya Wilde in Perry Mason (1957)

Goofs

The Case of the Meddling Medium

Perry Mason

Edit

Continuity

When Dr. Puharich phones Mason's office, Mason pronounces the doctor's surname as "PU-HAR-ICK." For the remainder of the show, he pronounces it as "PU-HAR-ICH."

Mason does not mispronounce the doctor's name at the time of the phone call. He does mispronounce it twice in the episode - once when asking the judge for permission to conduct ESP experiments, and the second time is during those experiments.

Factual errors

A claim of extrasensory perception has no connection whatever to a claim of being able to contact the spirits of the dead. They are two completely different things.
A Faraday Cage is a simple structure that is enclosed with a continuous covering of a conductive material (wire or mesh). They are used to block electromagnetic fields. A charge is NOT applied to the cage as it was in this story. They are used to protect people and electrical equipment from lightning, electrostatic discharges, even EMP's.
The free-falling elevator that Phillip Paisley dies in takes 14 seconds to fall 5 stories, about 60 feet, it would have only taken about 2 seconds to fall 60 feet. Phillip screams 12 seconds after the free fall begins, he would already be dead at the bottom of the shaft by then.

Miscellaneous

In the opening sequence, the gravestone has no birth or death date on it, which is unusual.
