Raymond Burr and Ray Collins in Perry Mason (1957)

Goofs

The Case of the Lazy Lover

Perry Mason

Edit

Continuity

During P.E. Overbrook's (James Bell) testimony at the chalkboard (approximately 36:48) DA Hamilton Burger removes the model car from where it was shown parked at the cabin site and places it to the side of the board. Shortly thereafter, between camera shots, the model car is now seen rotated 180 degrees.

Miscellaneous

Burger asks Overbrook to step down to the chalkboard to show the court the sequence of events regarding the car and the footprints. But the board is not angled so that the judge could see it and where Burger was standing he was blocking the judge's view.

Character error

When Perry cross examines Lucille he asks her about what someone else told her over the phone. This is rank hearsay which does not fall within any recognized exception to the hearsay rule, yet seasoned Prosecutor Burger does not object even though this testimony is counter to his theory of the murder.
When first talking to Perry, Pat Faxon says she "almost" hit Bertie Allred's car parked too close to the driveway entrance yet in the opening moments the parked car visibly jumps as she wheels around it into the driveway.
