Raymond Burr, Ray Collins, Hugh Sanders, and William Talman in Perry Mason (1957)

Goofs

The Case of the Jilted Jockey

Perry Mason

Edit

Continuity

In the opening scene, the horse running down the track is kicking up plumes of dust. On the cut to a closer shot, no dust is seen being kicked up or behind the horse from prior strides.

Revealing mistakes

Watching the horse race, about 7 horses are seen leaving the starting gate. When seeing shots of the race in action, there are about 11 horses running towards the finish line.

Miscellaneous

In the opening scene, the man timing the horse waits until the horse is long past him before stopping his stopwatch. His angle on where the horse was at the time he stopped his watch was quite acute, so the timing would be very inaccurate. The timer should both start and stop his watch when the horse passes directly in front of him.
When Tragg is arresting Tic Barton, he says that he got an "Anomynous" tip. (He mispronounced anonymous).

Anachronisms

The shoes Tic is wearing in jail when Perry speaks with him are way to shiny to be a pair of jail-issued shoes.

Character error

After the judge rules that Bob Allen is a hostile witness, he does not instruct Allen to answer Burger's questions with a "yes" or "no," which is all that hostile witnesses are allowed to do.
When Perry first cross-examines Davis, Burger raises an objection, but Perry cuts him off with another question for Davis, which Davis answers. The judge should have instructed Davis not to answer until there was a ruling on Burger's objection and should have admonished Perry for interrupting Burger as he was making the objection.
