Raymond Burr and Kathryn Card in Perry Mason (1957)

Goofs

The Case of the Deadly Toy

Perry Mason

Edit

Revealing mistakes

Dirk Benedict says he saw a tall thin blond woman take David away, but Mrs. Collins is not blond.

Plot holes

In the courtroom, Perry refers to a pet dog, Mr. Gus, owned by Mr. and Mrs. Jennings. Perry had never seen the dog, nor had any other character told him about it.

Character error

Lt. Tragg uses a pocket knife to scratch his identifying mark on the butt of the murder weapon, a Smith and Wesson revolver. This would obliterate the serial number, which on Smith and Wesson revolvers is stamped on the butt, and real police officers always place their identifying mark on the trigger guard or sideplate.
When Benedict describes to Perry the woman who went away with David, he describes her as tall and thin. Later Perry describes her to Della as a tall, thin blonde, and that is the description he uses at the airport to describe the woman he is looking for.
When Hannah Barton comes to Perry's house to babysit, she looks at the baby and exclaims, "aww ain't he cute?" The baby was a girl both in reality and the show.
