In appreciation
JordanThomasHall4 May 2020
While preparing breakfast for the family, Natalie listens to a radio program that leaves her feeling unappreciated for all she does, concluding "are mother's people?" The family's self-absorbed actions firms her feelings. Natalie's friend Joan Hollis (Joan Copeland) is fully sympathetic and tells Natalie to stay in bed the next morning pretending to be sick. The family heavily downplays it, instead giving her a list of things to do during the day. Joan suggests Natalie go for the full beauty parlor treatment and a new perfumed dress to catch Martin's eye. It goes unnoticed by the entire family. Soon her attitude becomes impossible not to notice. Patty and Cathy feel she is tired from all the work and decide to clean, order groceries, and cook a dinner that Martin remarks "was one of the best dinners we've had in a long time." Naturally, Natalie now feels not only more unappreciated than ever, but unwanted. The family thinks she needs a week's vacation to herself, unknowingly worsening things to the point she questions everything more than ever.
