Much Ado (#1.7)
ComedyFan20101 March 2018
Warning: Spoilers
Kirsten finds out that Charlie cheated and wants to leave him. Orwen gets sick and everyone is at the hospital waiting for results. Everyone but Claudia who is afraid of going to that hospital since her parents died there.

Great episode. I liked how it went on with Claudia. Her being afraid of going inside the hospital was very touching. So was Bailey coming home to give her updates an telling her that she is his sister and will always come before girlfriends. This was very sweet

We'll see how it will go between Charlie and Kirsten, there is obviously still something between them, maybe they will work it out. I liked Julia talking to Kirsten asking her to forgive Charlie, it was a pretty well written talk.

Pivotal Episode And An Important One For Family & Drama Television
chocolatepopcorn23 February 2023
This show (up until this point) has been naturally heartwarming and real in tone when it comes to portraying family dynamics, and the more crucial the situational aspects become- the more it can be heartwrenching and relatable. This episode is nothing short of that and is the heaviest episode of the series thus far... We see each and (almost) every one of the siblings caught off-guard in their own worlds while the unexpected happens & their schedules change to meet the challenges of this new tragedy. We see them reflect on the tragedy of their parents passing in a horrific car crash and deal with it in their own ways, while still being there to support one another. But with that support naturally comes tension, some are fed up with each other and the dynamics here feel too real to begin to even fathom. The episode ends outlooking a sunset while Claudia plays us off and the baby seems to enjoy it, its so beautiful and I will have to say that this is the best episode I've seen of the show this far. Episodes like these in the series keep me wanting more, it makes the show authentic and stand-out from others that surrounded its existence in the 90s and truly pressed the Dramily (Drama + Family) genre forward to new heights which only influenced the future of such shows to come.

The eclipse
tomasmmc-7719811 July 2021
Warning: Spoilers
All starts well for the siblings, Charlie asks Kirsten to spend the night in the house and she accepts, Bailey is also having a good time with Kate and Julia is happy singing at the club with musicians. Only Claudia is a little angry because Bailey is always with Kate.

The night of the eclipse, Charlie gives Kirsten a ride home and in the road, she finds lipstick in the sit of the truck (i can't believe Charlie didn't notice that before, he has to clean the truck!). As she noticed Charlie's absence in the episode All's fair, she realizes what he did and storms off the vehicle. In the house, Claudia waited hours for Bailey, who was going to take her to see the eclipse. Then, Charlie finds Julia at the nightclub but cannot take her away. The day after the eclipse, Charlie confess his crime to Kirsten, who showed at the house only because she cares about Owen (the only one that cannot hurt her). Although the older brother regrets it, explains how he screw up himself and he means well, the crime can't be taken back. On the other hand, Claudia gets revenge at Bailey by ruining his date. Then, Charlie is forced to tell that Kirsten will leave them and Julia (who already knew what happened) tells the others about the crime. For the second time, there's no family dinner, only Claudia and Ross goes.

And i could say that the eclipse also "caused" Owen's illness. Kirsten takes him to the hospital and answers all the questions to his medical history (clearly no one has taken care of Owen better than her). All fighting stops because health is always the most important and is the only thing that can get over everything. Finally, everyone reunites in the hospital, even Claudia (who initially can't because their parents death at that same place) and Owen is healed. During this time, there are emotional scenes: Charlie tells Kirsten how Diana announced to him her last pregnancy and that Owen was born in that same hospital, the talks between Charlie-Julia, Bailey-Julia, Charlie asking Kirsten to stay the night at the hospital with them, Julia trying to convince her not to leave. And of course, every scene Claudia has is outstanding, Lacey did a wonderful job. When she tells Charlie to stop hurting the family, the scenes with Bailey and Ross, her sadness outside the hospital and the final scene with Owen, are all great.

This episode is simply perfect, is sad and emotional, but is perfect. Overall, you can't get relaxed not even one minute, all the episode is worth it, almost every line is well written. And sadly yes, Kirsten leaves, but it is showed that when comes to health problems, the rest of the things doesn't matter that much, this applies even in Julia and Bailey's cases. What matters is that they care about each other and they love each other. This is the first time the six characters are together as a family (and won't be the last), although they have personal problems. Also, i highlight Ross, who is always willing to help when the Salingers need it. And to finish, Claudia is right, sex messes up things many times in life.

Pretty good episode even if they ripped the idea off Mary Poppins
