"The Eleven-Year Itch" marks the return of Bert Convy's Richard Lawrence, previously seen in "A Likely Candidate" (before that a different character in "Whatever Happened to Moby Dick?"), this time with a younger daughter, Julie, played by none other than Jodie Foster, already a veteran of nearly three dozen TV episodes, and more than a year before her starring role as Addie Pray on the teleseries PAPER MOON, based on the successful Tatum O'Neal feature. Unfortunately, it's just a retread of "Promise Her Anything But Give Her a Punch," with Julie instead of Gloria Hickey, only here she's the aggressor chasing after Danny. Realizing that Mom's best chance to romance Lawrence is for him to be nicer to Julie, Danny makes the mistake of going overboard by actually kissing her, leaving him with a black eye for his efforts. The two patch things up by the end, but we've seen it all before (neither Convy nor Foster would return). The featured song is a wonderful cover of "Walking in the Rain," composed by Phil Spector, Barry Mann, and Cynthia Weil, a 1964 hit (number 23 on the Billboard singles charts) for Spector's girl group The Ronettes, which earned Spector his only Grammy as a producer. The Partridge version was issued three months before on sixth LP NOTEBOOK, which also featured a cover (never heard on the series) of Mann-Weil's "We Gotta Get Out of This Place," the 1965 hit for The Animals, #13 on Billboard.
