The Match in Cromer

Writer Richard Harris adapted this comedy from his own stage play.

I do wonder if the sound of leather on willow, the golden lit cricket field was trying to capture the essence of John Major's Britain as well the success of The Darling Buds of May.

This is the last episode of the first series. It has taken this long for Miriam to find out that when Roger was playing away. He really was playing away with another woman.

Miriam follows the hints from several people as they play a match in Cromer and she eventually confronts Roger about it.

She tells Roger that although he may find her boring, she is bored. Roger is also told that he is rude and ignorant by the wife of another team member. To top it all he got out for a duck.

So three and half hours of television to get to this point. I hope the play moved quicker.
