The plot involves another scientist, played by the awfully young looking Ralph Machio (the Karate Kid) who is trying to figure out what is going on with brain dead patients. He is making inroads into the brain, believing that if he can reach those recesses, he may be able to call them back. One day he realizes that one of two patients has somehow shared brainwaves with the other. He believes there is a connection. LIke any good fictional scientist, he jumps in with both feet. He has been a loose cannon in his research facility, constantly skirting the edges of malpractice and limits of morality. A young woman from his past shows up and begins to assist him. She also is his voice of conscience, holding him back and keeping him from zooming into a catastrophe. This is an interesting episode which require us to accept a kind of cosmic place for minds to meet and actually plot strategy for removing themselves from their terminal environment. Things get screwed up when a violent, selfish man enters this realm. LIke other scientist before him on the Outer Limits, Ralph must weight the benefits of checking things out for himself. An intriguing though pretty far fetched episode. We should be let in on the "how" of the thing once in a while.
