David McCallum (Joshua Hayward) previously played Gwyllim Griffiths in The Sixth Finger (1963) and Tone Hobart in The Forms of Things Unknown (1964). Along with Leonard Nimoy, Cliff Robertson, Barbara Rush (who appeared with him in The Forms of Things Unknown (1964)) and Peter Breck, he is one of only five actors to appear in both The Outer Limits (1963) and The Outer Limits (1995).
This was the final script written by Joseph Stefano before his death on August 25, 2006 at the age of 84.
Father Puglia (French Tickner) was named after Frank Puglia, who played the equivalent character Father Fontana in the original version A Feasibility Study (1964).
This is one of three episodes of the series in which Don MacKay (Pat Dooley) appears, the others being I, Robot (1995) and The Inheritors (1999). Coincidentally, all three episodes are remakes of episodes of The Outer Limits (1963). The only remake episode in which he does not appear is Nightmare (1998).
Like The Outer Limits (1963) episode Don't Open Till Doomsday (1964) (which was also written by Joseph Stefano), this episode involves a teenage couple who elope (or plan to elope) over the objections of the girl's father.
