- Elizabeth is engaged to Fogarty, who is soon to be made a ship's captain but she is still interested in Albert Frazer. Callon floods James with a load of Braganza's empty wine casks which he is obliged by contract to take but has no room for them. Albert comes to his rescue by offering to store the casks for him and James begins to see that Albert would be a far more profitable brother-in-law than Daniel.—don @ minifie-1
- With the Charlotte Rhodes safely back in port, James has to scrounge to pay port fees and the like. It's all Mr. Callon's doing as he tries to put Jame out of business. When Callon floods the port with Mr. Braganza's empty barrels, James has to find a place to warehouse them. James decides he needs a quick trip to raise some ready cash and turns to Albert Frazier for his business. Meanwhile, James' brother Robert now realizes that James outfoxed him and wants nothing to do with the partnership. Elizabeth's beau, Daniel Fogarty, is on a sea voyage but anxious to get home and with good reason as it turns out: Albert Frazier has been calling on Elizabeth. Fogarty is a bit presumptuous however and Elizabeth refuses to join him at an important luncheon with Mr. Callon, one where he hopes to be offered the captaincy of a ship.—garykmcd
