The drummer of the band at the end of Monty's show is played by series creator Garry Marshall, who also created Happy Days, and directed a bunch of hit movies.
In Monty Hall's Green Room, there are photos of various ABC-TV personalities on the wall, including some cast members of The Brady Bunch such as Maureen McCormick, who confessed in her autobiography to love older men, and having a big crush on Jack Klugman.
The title refers to a quote of Henry David Thoreau in 1854: If a man does not keep pace with his companions, perhaps it is because he hears a different drummer. Let him step to the music which he hears, however
