Warning: Spoilers
Tony knows nothing about film and actually asks who Alan Ladd is when Gibbs mentions the name. Obviously, the character has a long evolution ahead of him.

It's getting better.

Warning: Spoilers
It's looking like the show is starting to hit its stride. The previous episode was good, and now, so is this one. There's a chance that I'm speaking too soon, but I feel like things are about to go into high gear real soon. The main reason I feel that way is because I guess you could say I spoiled myself.

I happened to see a summary of this season, and it mentioned a character who'll be the antagonist for this season: and the second season, I think. And I saw a small smidgen of the previous episode recap at the beginning of the season finale, and the character that was being spoken about is probably that character.

I don't think I've ever given it any thought that there could be antagonists in this show. On a subconscious level, I must've expected each "antagonist" to be the perpetrator, so to speak, in Person of Interest terms, of each episode instead of there ever being an overarching antagonist of sorts. I doubt this character that I read about is going to be the only antagonist like that.

But now that I think about it, it would make sense for there to be a character like that. This show premiered in 2003: two years after 9/11. And the war in Afghanistan started right after 9/11. Because of that, and because this is an American fictional TV show, it makes sense for there to be an antagonist; well, it makes sense for this first season, and the next few, given the years and the proximity to 9/11. As for antagonists in the far future of the show, if there are any, it'll have to be people to do with our main characters. Terrorists wouldn't be relevant as antagonists at that point.

Speaking of dates, this episode premiered on November 25th of 2003, so I'm guessing the mid-season finale is in a few episodes. I have no idea what the mid-season finale will be about or what the cliffhanger will be: I'm sure there will be one. But I think it's very likely that this season will start getting super exciting soon.

Overall, I think this episode had moments between characters that rivaled the ones in the previous episode. The episode itself rivaled the pilot and third episode as far as the enjoyment of it is concerned. And while each season of this show has over 20 episodes, this is the eighth episode. That's still a good amount of episodes, so I think this first season is getting close to some exciting stuff. It could be more enjoyable episodes or more enjoyable episodes because of more interesting storylines.

This Is NOT a James Bond Movie

So: NCIS is able to put a transmitting "minicam" inside a prisoner's jumpsuit that can't be detected by the person wearing it. In 2003.

A fine episode!

Warning: Spoilers
The first season of "NCIS" seems to be staying on a fine note. "Minimum Security" is yet another decent episode in this season. This time I am going to start with the bad things first, because I haven't got a lot to say on that.

. The story is not very engaging and feels forgettable. A couple of twists and turns were needed to propel the narrative along. Also would have loved to hear a better explanation of why the victim had emeralds in his stomach.

But there are a lot of things to love here.

. The production values of the episode are great. The episode is well-directed, liked the music and the acting. Jessica Steen has a solid debut as Paula Cassidy.

. The mystery, while straightforward, has its moments. The humor is suitably wry and the characters are overall enjoyable.

Overall, a fine case.

6/10 HK.
