Several years before he made an appearance playing friends unseen father Morty, Steve Lawrence appeared as himself with Edie Gorme, performing in Atlantic City where the family is for grandma yet has Canasta team that Brighton has joined. If you ever wondered what Niles does when everybody is away, look no further. It is one of the greatest moments of the series (and sitcom history as a matter of fact!) when Niles breaks into "Old Time Rock and Roll", imitating Tom Cruise. Of course C.C. walks in at that moment, resulting in one of Niles' great deadpans. Brighton is also very funny, beginning to sound like Sylvia and Yetta with his Yiddish slang. It's also very funny that Fran believes that Steve and Edie are celebrity impersonators rather than the real deal especially since there's a poster of them in the background. This is a fun episode that gives everybody a chance to shine, one of the classics of the second season.
