Recurring features: Many entries in the series have frogs croaking in the background - the same frog croakings no matter what continent. Chickens also show up in backgrounds (here in Quetzalcoatl and in The Blessing, at least). The same oddly flat pumpkins in The Blessing (location: Africa) also appear here as well (location: Mexico) in a market scene.
This telling of the Quetzalcoatl legend (which has no definitive version) becomes quite Christ-like at points. When Quetzalcoatl - a teacher and the best of mankind - dies in sacrifice so that Alex (and all) may live, he rises from his death, promises to return, then ascends to the heavens. Earlier, Quetzalcoatl, speaking of destiny, voices whether to accept the cup that's placed before him or let it pass - seeming to know its connection to his death yet accepting it and his fate.
This was the last episode of the entire TV series which lasted only for 1 season. Season 2 was planned yet never made.
