Touch of Hilarity
hellraiser712 October 2020
This episode is another honorable mention in my book. This was a 70's film that was trying to cash in on the religious horror train sort of, you can easily see why this never boarded.

Not a whole lot I can really say about this except as usual Nelson and the bots are good as usual. This episode has a lot of funny and memorable riffs really like it when they riff on the music which is a strange music choice as it's so calming most of the time and Tom Servo is just humming and sing to some of it; he even sings a made up song which just cracks me up. Another scene where the couple goes through this poppy field and we heard Tom and Crow just fake sneezing, yeah looking at that scene almost made me sneeze.

My favorite riff is when Crow say if were watching a "Hallmark" movie; strangely from how the story goes this feels almost in a twisted sense like it could have been a film for the "Hallmark Channel" if they ever decided to do films for the Halloween season. Strangely this film is almost more watchable than most of the films that channel puts out. I could easily picture certain Hallmark or Arrowverse alumni (since some Hallmark actors and actress are on those shows) like Lacey Chabert, Danielle Panabaker, Summer Glau, Melissa Benoist (wonder if their fan or watch MST3K) or any other to play the lead girl if Hallmark decided to go the Halloween route and made a remake of this film.

Really like the host segments one where Crow is being stoned because he's accused of being a witch. It's just funny as we see the stones just keep piling on him as high as a Jenga tower and Mike is just really breathing hard doing the stacking; of course Crow being a robot these stones would harm him, let alone he' s not a witch.

Another which I love is with Mike as he's being attacked by Tom Servo's crazy grandma that is armed with this tiny toy pitchfork. It's just hilarious and cute as we see the crazy grandma constantly going at Mike, let alone the fact Tom even has a grandma or any family line at all. Just seeing the Grandma Servo I'm surprised that there was never any doll, plush toys or any Halloween decorations of that servo and all the other MST3k crew.

This episode has the touch for hilarity.

The Best Mst3k episode ever
beness3217 August 2006
this is, without a doubt, the funniest episode of mst3k ever to air. Everyone is on top of their game today. The writing was perfect for the perfect movie to rip on. It's one thing to watch a really bad movie that already knows that its not good to make you fall asleep. It's another thing to watch a really bad movie knowing that they might've have tried to make a good movie. You can obviously tell from the actor's 'dramatic' pauses that the director thought himself a c-movie genius.

It's a great starter episode in case you want to watch or you want your friends to get hooked on it. There aren't many of those complicated references to unknown celebrities, bearable in-between segments, catchy tunes making fun of Satan that are probably the diamonds in the entire treasure chest of laughs. Mike, Tom, and Crow each have there moments, from Tom singing, "Hallmar Hall of Fame presents, The touch of Satan... Come sit with meeeeee, and Satan toooo, He's your friend and mine," or "Do you mind if I skip across it?" To Mike sheepishly asking, "Your kind of an idiot Arne't you?" to Crow shrieking in horror, "Oh no, now the credits are going to unspool backwards!" As usual Mike writes all the best lines for the bots, though I think we pretty much have accepted them as suitable characters, but the big surprise comes that there are so many good lines in this episode, even mike comes off as insanely hilarious.

Once again, the greatest episode ever, a must-see of the series. Details: you can only find it online or on a four-disc set with "Merlin's mystical shop of wonders" "Boggy Creek 2: And the legend continues" and "Time Chaser" ToS and MmsoW are the two good ones. BC2 is okay, and Time-chasers is a below average episode that can be funny at times.
