Warning: Spoilers
Warning do not read unless seen episode.

This is the start of the Mike Era of MST and it was a solid start as he immediately gelled with everyone and everything; though funny to say as he's worked on the show behind the scenes and even acted as some guest characters, one I remember as Steve Reeves in that "Hercules Unchained" episode (episode I review) so it's easy to see how he fits in.

. The film picked is indeed an odd one, in a way you can say almost predates the movie "Reanimator" only difference that film was good, that one not so much. There are plenty of memorable riffs, really like the riffs in that road scene where that blowhole doctor and scientist is just bucking it toward his lab for a dumb reason despite the fact his fiancée is in the car beside him.

Couldn't help but crack up a little from every sign past that Servo mentioned which just further indicated how stupid the main character is being. Really liked it when the bots and Mike were all acting grossed out when we see the main character retrieve his fiancée head which miraculously (if you want to call it that) survives in the fire; yeah, I agree Mike and Bots that is a gruesome thought. From that along with the accident and what he does with her head it's official, "Worst Fiancée Ever!" And of course, you can guess throughout the film it's downhill from there, on think I like in the film is that you feel sympathy for the girlfriend now reanimated as just a head, as she never asked nor wanted her so called fiancée to preserve and save her head only; let alone he's clearly using her for his perverse science and to play god. It's funny when Joel and the bots deliver riffs whenever she delivers the mind power in which disembodying her head from her body has strangely made her telepathic.

There are some good skits, one that's another honorable mention of mine is the interview with the Brain gal who is played by Mary Jo whom of course you remember as Peril. There is a good back and forth which leads to a punchline in the end which made me sincker along with the rest of the interview.

This is one you'll laugh your head off to.

Rating: 3 stars.

Welcome aboard, Mike!

I guess I just have to give this the full score because this is the first episode with the riffing done by none other than Mike Nelson, who would later technically become the most prolific riffer of all time as he would be featured in the show's (sorta) spin off, Rifftrax. It's great to hear about Mike getting prepared by watching bad movies beforehand and learning to understand obscure actor references. I certainly don't get most of them! It's especially cool to see this because as the first Mike episode, I get to see the out of theater scenes that would be featured in the new theme song.

Mike's first ever riff in the entire series was, "These people will be exploring issues like such as teen issues". Not the best way to start, but at least it's something. The movie wasn't as bad as the bots made it out to be. I feel did feel bad for Mike as there were no letters for him. One of my favorite lines was, "Well, you're right. The liver isn't in the skull". One that had me laughing was, "Hey, you're not my dad! You're Hitler!". I was also in stitches with, "Kill him!" followed by, "I can't! He's ripping my arm off!". Oh who could forget, "What you're seeing is real" with "What you smell is unfortunate".

I think this may in fact be the most significant episode of the entire show's run, not including the first and last episode! While new characters came into the series, Mike's introduction was the most important. It's great to see where he started out. It's weird because Mike Nelson had already taken numerous roles on the show before becoming a full time cast member. He had already been writing for the show when it began. Thank you Mike for giving something new to the table! ****
