Herc busting in with the MST crew

This is the start of the Hercules arc and it's a good one. The fact that they are tackling the films based on the famous hero from Greek Mythology is a dream come true for me in a strange way as I love Greek Mythology. Sidenote, I'm aware of the Steve Reeves Hercules movies and personally I didn't think the first film was bad at all, it's not a film that makes my personal favorites list of fantasy films, but still I thought it was decent watchable.

There are some good decent skits, on that's an honorable mention in my book is seeing Servo present all the new constellations in the sky and the story behind them, it really cracks me up at the utter ridiculousness of them. Though making new constellations in the sky is a cool activity.

But there are plenty of memorable riffs which to me is the strong part of this episode. Liked what they said when the left the Amazon Island like "Jerkules" and Crow with usual sarcasm "Great Hercules this is so much better." An island with savage wild men and a T-Rex that want to kill me over an island beautiful woman that would want to kill me the end, yeah not seeing the upside in choosing the island with the T-Rex. Ok, the one with the amazons is dangerous as well but hey what a way to go.

The other riffs were on the battle at the end and seeing Herc with the chains which is the highlight of the film, and the MST crew they of course deliver the riffs faster than Herc swings the heavy chains.

This episode comedy has the muscle for hilarity.

Look out, Aeschylus!

And now we're back to Joel. It was weird to watch a movie that took place before movies that had already appeared in the show. I didn't watch the episodes in order, so I didn't know what was going on. The best part out of the theater was Dr. Forrester showing off his invention where he literally had a table attached to his body. It's great to see him whack Frank around. I also love how Frank gets back at him by using it later. I had never heard of Hamilton, Joe Frank & Reynolds before, but I did know about that song.

The riffs were as good as ever. The one that made me laugh the most was, "Hey, we came to get Scruffy, our lion, Oh my God!". I also liked, "Wait, this is Ancient Greece! They didn't have ruins yet!". While it wasn't that clever I also liked, "What are you doing? That's my good spear!". We get a nice conversation with the characters with the phrases, "Don't look at our butts!" followed later with, "You know the bigger they are, the cuter they get", "Their butts?" and "No, no!". They also had, "A lone ram committed suicide today". They kept calling him "Herc" reminding me of my brother and I don't know if that's good or not. ***1/2
