Jessica answers a call for help help from an old friend, Ellen Wicker, who now lives across the country. Ellen runs a diner and is suspected of murdering some of her clients by poisoning them with arsenic. While living in Boston, she had been charged but ultimately found not guilty of murder. With that in her past, most residents, including local Sheriff Deloy Hays, are convinced that she's guilty. Animosity is running so high that even Jessica is threatened. Jessica does manage to prove that all of the deaths were accidental except for one and it certainly isn't her friend Ellen who committed the crime.
