- Jessica's trip to New York City to meet with her stockbroker becomes complicated when the broker is found murdered and his secretary charged with the crime.
- Jerome Ashcroft's Wall Street firm handles Jessica's portfolio. Secretary Norma Pulaski, in fact, does the job of her boss, co-founder's heir, Philip Royce, who prefers golf and girls, but scorns Jerome's daughter Candice after an intimate try-out. When he's found with his skull smashed in with a golf club, all evidence points to Norma and her hunky boyfriend, baker Rudy Bianco, who found some cash NYPD Lieutenant Moynihan presumes to originate from fraud in the office he charges Norma with. Jessica finds out who really embezzled, how Philip's better golf partner, Buddy Black, ties him to corporate raider Gordon Tully and puts it all together.—KGF Vissers
- Jessica is in New York City to visit Philip Royce, her stock broker. Royce doesn't seem to spend very much time at the office and his secretary, Norma Pulaski, keeps things running smoothly, even giving out the stock advice to clients. Philip has just broken his engagement with Candice Ashcroft, his partner Jerome Ashcroft's daughter. When Jessica shows up at his apartment for a breakfast meeting, the place is full of police who have found Philip dead, bludgeoned with one of his own golf clubs. To make matters worse, the firm finds a $2 million discrepancy in Philip's accounts and the police suspect Norma and her fiancé, baker Rudy Bianco. Jessica suspects that corporate raider, Gordon Tully, might have been involved. The killer has made one mistake, however.—garykmcd
