In the opening credits for the fake movie, "The Black Eagle", the character of 'Second Wench' is credited to Tinea Pedis, which is the medical term for athlete's foot.
Rafael (note the different spelling) Sabatini was a real author who was born in Italy but wrote in English. His most famous novels were swashbuckling adventures like Captain Blood, Scaramouche, and The Sea Hawk. He did not, however, write a novel called either The Black Eagle or The Blue Eagle.
