Out to catch a psychopath
planktonrules10 March 2017
I wish I'd watched this one with my wife, as she was a huge Parker Stevenson fan back when he was on "The Hardy Boys"....especially because in this episode of "Mission: Impossible" he plays a serial killer!! The mission is to try to get a confession out of him, as he's likely murdered a young princess from an important Arab oil nation...and her disappearance has soured relations between the countries. They prove he's the killer and prosecute him, then her daddy and his nation will be grateful.

To do this one, the first convince Champ that he has a new BFF...a fellow psychopath who admires his work! Then, they use a stage mentalist act to convince him the man has amazing supernatural powers. Where exactly does all this go? See the show.

This is a mildly interesting episode. Part of the time I wondered why they went to so much trouble...taking him hostage and torturing him would have gotten the results sooner...but alas, that is NOT the IM Force way! A good episode.

Good Fun! Warning: Spoilers
Again, they used holograms and psychobabble to freak out the bad guys but in this episode it was more convincing as they weren't using these techniques to bring down a military dictatorship. Some top acting in this episode from regulars and guest stars. Tony Hamilton was outstanding as a 'whacko' and schmoozing up to Mrs Foster. Loved the scene with him eating serial and brushing his teeth over Grant's dead body. Peter Greaves also seemed right at home as 'Zane Preston'. The two guest starts that stood out most were Parker Stevenson, who put in a great performance as 'Champ Foster' and Joanna Lockwood who played Rita extremely naturally. Loved 'Champ's' interaction with the servants. Thaao's Arab accent could have been better for a supposed master of disguise (pronounced his Ps much too clearly for an Arab). Casey had very little to do and Phil Morris was consistent with his high quality acting but his Photoshop skills leave a lot to be desired! Their use of fragrance to psych out 'Champ was portrayed extremely well considering it was TV. Episode was great fun overall.
