Fakeout

Mission: Impossible

Continuity

When Hidalgo and Barney are fighting, there is a close-up of a knife in Hidalgo's right hand. The scene cuts to a wide shot and the knife is in Hidalgo's left hand.
After shooting Briggs, Carson and Cinnamon escape in his convertible. The car is shown moving through a location and the scene cuts to a close-up to Carson and Cinnamon looking back. When the scene cuts back to the wider shot (elapsed time of about one second) the car is in the same location.
The wide scenes of Carson and Cinnamon in his convertible after encountering the spilled milk canisters show Cinnamon near the passenger window. The close-ups show her in the middle of the seat next to Carson.
When Carson and Cinnamon are having drinks, Carson's drink instantly goes from his left to his right hand in the same sentence.
When Carson and Cinnamon are going to the hideout, it's supposed to be at night. The headlights are on the cars and when the scene goes to an obvious interior stage set, it's dark. When Carson and Cinnamon escape from the hideout in a car, it's daylight and there are blue skies. Yet back at the hideout when Barney arouses Briggs, it's completely dark.

Revealing mistakes

When Briggs is on the roof for the assignment message, he goes to a chimney flue to dispose of the tape. There are flames coming out of the top. The only way this could happen is if there was a dangerous fire in the flue, which would cause the fire department to be called.
When Briggs was listening to his assignment, a Concord Sound Camera with a 2-1/2" reel capacity was used. When the close up view of the turning reel appeared it was a 5" reel on a different looking spindle.
The floor leading to the elevator from the hallway is continuous, revealing that the elevator not a functioning elevator, as there would be no way for the elevator to move.
When Barney & Hidalgo are fighting at the zoo, it's supposed to be at night, but you can see blue sky through the trees throughout the fight scene.
During the final car chase, Lloyd Bridges (driving Barbara Bain) realizes he's trapped and spins his blue Lincoln Continental into a U-Turn. The car then screeches to a halt in a low level close up, revealing a completely different man with gray hair driving and a bewigged woman who is much older than Barbara Bain. Their appearance is not even close.
