- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: [Meeting Anthony backstage in a burlesque theater] I'm Rita Keeley.
- Michael Anthony: Good evening, Miss Keeley. My name is Michael Anthony. I would like to see you in private on a matter of quite importance.
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: I'll have to see your badge.
- Michael Anthony: Badge? Oh, I'm not connected with the police. This is a personal matter involving a substantial sum of money.
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: [Getting upset] Look, I don't know which nightclub you're shilling for, but the answer is no. I'm staying here.
- Michael Anthony: Miss Keeley, my business with you is of an entirely different nature. It's personal and confidential. Where can we talk in private?
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: Okay. Come up to the dressing room.
- Michael Anthony: [In the dressing room] Miss Keeley,
- [Opening his briefcase]
- Michael Anthony: I represent an anonymous donor who has instructed me to give you
- [Producing a check]
- Michael Anthony: this cashier's check for $1,000,000. You will have no tax obligation. The donor has...
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: [Rita grabs the check, rips it up, and throws the pieces into Anthony's hat, then smashes Anthony's hat over his head, crunching it down, mostly covering his face] Get out of here! Get out!
- Michael Anthony: [Anthony enters the study to find Tipton sitting in a high backed chair scrutinizing a miniature dollhouse-sized theater stage. Only his hands are visible to the viewers] You sent for me, sir?
- John Beresford Tipton: Mike, in what form of show business would a performer pray for rain?
- Michael Anthony: [Stumbling] Well, I - I...
- John Beresford Tipton: [Chuckles] Give up? Burlesque, Mike. Nothing will fill up a burlesque theater faster than a heavy rain.
- Michael Anthony: [Trying to make a point without looking at Tipton] I know very little about burlesque, sir.
- John Beresford Tipton: Well, you're going to meet a burlesque star. You're going to give a million dollars to Dinah Might.
- Michael Anthony: [Furrowing brow] I don't understand, sir.
- John Beresford Tipton: [Chuckling and spelling] D - I - N - A - H - Dinah.
- [Continues spelling]
- John Beresford Tipton: M - I- G -H - T - Might. Dinah Might!
- Michael Anthony: [to the viewers] Dinah Mite was the stage name of a young woman named Rita Alice Keeley.
- Andrew V. McMahon: [In the office of bank president Andrew V. McMahon] Well now, Miss Keeley, does my sworn statement put your doubts to rest?
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: Absolutely. Whoever gave me the money, I know it wasn't John Nolan or anyone connected with him. I'm ashamed for thinking Mr. Anthony was a gangster's leg-man.
- Andrew V. McMahon: He holds no grudge. In fact, your sincerity impressed him. Now if you'll just read this and sign it, the money is yours.
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: [Reading the document] 'I pledge myself to reveal to no one the exact amount of this gift nor the circumstances under which I received it. I understand that if I violate this pledge, any part of the $1,000,000 still in my possession will be reclaimed by the donor's accredited agent, Andrew V. McMahon.' Well, this seems alright.
- [Rita signs the agreement]
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: Rita Alice Keeley.
- [McMahon hands her the check]
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: One million dollars. Now I can take care of Papa and I can get myself an education. Whoever the donor is, he sure took a chance on me. Tell him I appreciate it.
- Michael Anthony: [to the viewers] My name is Michael Anthony. My duties as Executive Secretary to the late John Beresford Tipton took me into many strange places and into brief contact with many sorts of people. Mr. Tipton was one of the world's few multibillionaires. He had a unique hobby: he gave away $1,000,000 to hundreds of men and women From his 60,000-acre estate, Silverstone, he ruled his financial empire. Here, he created his millionaires. Mr. Tipton was into all fields of activities. His knowledge of the theater and its people was vast.
- Andrew V. McMahon: [In the office of bank president Andrew V. McMahon] It's a wonderful, generous gift, Miss Keeley: a $500,000 scholarship fund for people who can't afford but want a college education.
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: Well, Mr. McMahon, I never did anything to earn this money. It'd be a shame if I couldn't do some good with it.
- Andrew V. McMahon: I still think the university should know the donor's identity.
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: No, that would spoil it. People with fine minds mostly have a lot of pride, too. They shouldn't feel beholden to anyone.
- Andrew V. McMahon: Are you returning to the coast immediately?
- Rita Alice Keeley AKA Dinah Might: Yes. Papa's all alone. He wanted to come along to see Dennie laid to rest beside Mama, but the trip would be too hard on him. Thank you, Mr. McMahon.
- Andrew V. McMahon: Good bye, Miss Keeley.
